How Escentuelle Began
Carolyn
Dunne Hassett's foray into the world of essential oils began with the purchase
of a bargain aromatherapy gift box from Barnes & Noble in 1997. It has
since expanded into countless hours of hands-on self-study and, recently, more
formal education in aromatherapy and essential oil chemistry through the
Atlantic Institute of
Aromatherapy. She's been making many of these products for years, on an
as-needed basis for friends. It was these friends' urging Carolyn to share this
healing and aromatic art with others that led her to establish
Escentuelle (formerly named Magical Earth Creations).
We hope
that you'll enjoy our ever-expanding line of essential oil and shea
butter-based products that will bring the luxury of scent into your life with
the healthful benefits of nature's bounty.
Custom-Blended Perfumes and Colognes
Escentuelle's creator has always been intrigued by the interaction
between scent and an individual’s own body chemistry. With
people’s varying tastes and uses for scent, it’s only logical
that personalized fragrance is the best way to go. The problem is that the big
manufacturers want to sell to as many people as possible, so they make only
those scents with a broad appeal—and often with synthetics as a base.
It’s for these reasons and her own love of perfume that Carolyn decided
to make customized all-natural scents based on one-on-one consultation and
testing with an individual.
In spring 2002 she
made a pilgrimage to Grasse, France, perfume capital of the world. There
Carolyn participated in a custom-perfume session at Molinard and worked a full
day one-on-one with the master perfumer at Galimard (see photo at left). These
experiences, along with her formal study of perfuming through the Atlantic
Institute of Aromatherapy, have given her a wonderful foundation in this
luxurious field. Carolyn's participation in a natural perfume round-robin
blending group and the recently defunct Artisan Natural Perfumers Guild keeps
her on top of the trends of this burgeoning natural scent revolution.
Carolyn is in the early stages of her custom perfume business, so check back
from time to time to see the progress.
